Not that I'm against it, but the problem with raising the minimum wage is that companies paying just the minimum wage will then charge more for their products and services. Which just makes living more expensive and doesn't help those who end up earning minimum wage at all, since they now have to pay more as well to continue living.

While in theory it's a good thing, in practice it seems self-defeating.

Instead of increasing the minimum wage, how about decreasing the wage of some people, like the contracts for some US Major league professional athletes. Some of their contracts are outrageous and the cost of those contracts is passed on to the people who watch the games (whether in the stadium or on TV).

In a few years a single individual will have to make 28/hr just to live in a dirty hole in the wall and barely make ends meet.
