Off the trail...
Jul. 9th, 2003 12:05 pmOnly a couple of days late on this. Not that it matters. But I
meant to write this up Monday when it was fresh in my head.
Was a small class today, only three of us. We rode in an outdoor
ring hich gave us good lighting, warm weather, and time for Rick
to observe. He was able to correct flaws for us all. I rode on
Elsie for a second time. Didn't have the same problems as before
but I did feel like the saddle was moving. My knees held up
better. Maybe it is a problem riding Brawny. That makes me sad.
Elsie is a stubborn horse, Rick thought I'd need a crop, which I
didn't want to use. I got lucky and didn't have to carry it. We
did some walking, trotting, and turning exercises. I felt I had
good control of the horse and could get her to do what I wanted.
I was told not to ask, but to tell the horse what I wanted it to
do. It seems to have worked.
I'm looking forward to getting on the trail again to see how I
do. I'd really like some time where I don't have to worry about
the horse taking it's cues from the other horses.
I'm going up to Maine early Friday to find out my part in the
joust. Maybe they'll let me ride a little while I'm there. I'm
not counting on it but anything is possible. I'm guessing I'm
fetching lances. It seems odd considering I'm a noble and other
things. (Don't want to reveal anything for those going to see the
show.) But it doesn't make sense I'll be playing guitar in the
pub sing or final sing either.
Upward and onward.
