Riding and Training...

So I've been improving my riding quite a bit. I didn't canter over the weekend, but I trotted while neck reigning with a lance in my hand, resting on my foot. Doesn't sound that complicated except the horse I was on isn't trained to neck reign. (Re-enforces using the leg commands and body language to turn the horse.) I was pretty good going to the right but had trouble going left. So I worked on this for another half hour or so with my friend leading the horse so it would be under control and I'd be able to turn. No lance for this exercise.

I also got to help in the training of a new horse. Hey, horses don't come ready to joust either you know and it can't hurt to have additional horses trained for the job. I won't get into the specifics but a large part of it was getting the horse used to armor and the noise it makes.

Farewell to Joey...

No no... he's still alive. But he went to his new home on Saturday. Very nice people, the mother is home all the time so she will be able to care well for Joey. Doesn't believe in leaving dogs in the car. I think he'll be happy. I gave them my e-mail address so they can let me know how he's doing. I also forgot some of his things (like his puppy shampoo and food) and will bring them up next weekend. They live about a mile from where I do my horseback riding training and said I could come visit. I don't want to visit too often but I do want to know he's doing well. I also want to give him time to adjust to life without me and love his new family. I feel more and more like this was the right thing to do.

And for the first time in about three months, I slept without a dog in my bed, and without having to do doggie things in the morning. I got to work on time too.

Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they aren't out to get you...

So, we were having this meeting in the "Executive Conference Room" regarding IDS[1]. The guy asks what is the driving factor behind our desire for an IDS and I answer "paranoia." On cue, the videoconferencing device comes to life and the camera swivels and points at me.

Was really happy with my boss turned it off.
