Riding and Training...
Mar. 22nd, 2004 11:33 amSo I've been improving my riding quite a bit. I didn't canter over the weekend, but I trotted while neck reigning with a lance in my hand, resting on my foot. Doesn't sound that complicated except the horse I was on isn't trained to neck reign. (Re-enforces using the leg commands and body language to turn the horse.) I was pretty good going to the right but had trouble going left. So I worked on this for another half hour or so with my friend leading the horse so it would be under control and I'd be able to turn. No lance for this exercise.
I also got to help in the training of a new horse. Hey, horses don't come ready to joust either you know and it can't hurt to have additional horses trained for the job. I won't get into the specifics but a large part of it was getting the horse used to armor and the noise it makes.
