I sold a fog lamp on eBay that I had bought for my old car and never mounted before it was in an accident. I probably paid $50 or $75 for it from a junkyard. They simply weren't on eBay. I just sold it on eBay for for $90.

In my eBay listing, I clearly stated I accept PayPal but do not accept credit card payments. Why? I don't have a Premier account. So what does this guy do? Pays with a credit card.

If I upgrade to Premier account, everything I accept via PayPal will have a surcharge.

And I can't seem to deny the transaction either.

Le sigh!

EDIT: Got a response from $BUYER who said if I canceled the transaction, he'd redo it as a bank transfer. So, I called PayPal and it turns out eBay has a new asinine policy which does not allow PayPal users to deny credit card transactions for items purchased through eBay. This is either going to discourage people from using PayPal or using eBay. (Nah, probably not.) So here are the hoops I had to jump through.

1) Accept the transaction and upgrade to a Premier Account.
2) Refund the transaction.
3) Have PayPal downgrade my account to a Personal Account.

This took all of about 5 minutes but created a very angry me in the process. It's a stupid policy (even the guy on the phone thought so). Neither party can cancel the transaction. It will, however, automatically cancel if not accepted in 30 days. I'm sure a total stranger will be willing to let me sit on his money for 30 days.

I need to find an alternative to PayPal.

(I see to be having trouble typing the word "transaction" today. Yay for spell checking.)
