With Apologies to the TSA
Jun. 27th, 2007 11:57 pmBefore I left for Wisconsin (yeah yeah, I'll get to that), I wrote this post about the TSA detaining a woman over spilled water. The referenced article has the following quote from Monica Emmerson:
The TSA has posted video of the incident (thanks to
bdragon for pointing it out, watch the second video, not the first) and it's pretty clear she dumped the water on the floor and shook out the cup. Okay, one point for the TSA.
I'm unsure why she took her kid out of the stroller as that would only cause more havoc. I don't know who is holding her kid and the entire video shows only 10 minutes of her being detained (she claims to have been detained over 40 minutes, but we see neither the beginning nor end of the incident) but between the video and the officer's report, she really does look like the bad guy in this one.
I still think the policies are stupid, but there's no reason to make things worse by intentionally dumping water on the floor.
As I was escorted out of security by TSA and a police officer, I unscrewed the cup to drink the water, which accidentally spilled because I was so upset with the situation.
