Kind of an unsung hero of comedy. Jeni was just damned funny every time I saw him and had the ability to be funny while working clean. Not a lot of comedians can do that these days. Makes me think of Phil Hartman in that you don't realize how much you might miss someone until they're gone.
WEST HOLLYWOOD, California (AP) -- Richard Jeni, a standup comedian who played to sold-out crowds, was a regular on the "Tonight Show" and appeared in movies, died of a gunshot wound in an apparent suicide, police said Sunday.
Kind of an unsung hero of comedy. Jeni was just damned funny every time I saw him and had the ability to be funny while working clean. Not a lot of comedians can do that these days. Makes me think of Phil Hartman in that you don't realize how much you might miss someone until they're gone.
