Another Night of Equestrian Fun
May. 26th, 2003 09:30 pmMy second ride at Bobby's Ranch was in a group lesson. I rode with Scott, Brenda, Frank. and a youngish girl I didn't know named Kim. Clearly Scott, Brenda and Kim had the most riding experience.
Frank and I were both on big horses which didn't seem to want to do what we were telling them. Also might have been our inexperience. But I was riding Brawny again. Yup, pain in the knees. Because it was a group, it was a bit more free running, and the instructor, Rick, would give people pointers. He tried to keep us all walking or trotting together and Scott was allowed to do some Cantering. I only got nervous when another horse would creep up on Brawny. He apparently gets grumpy when other horses get too close. Because of the rain, we rode in the indoor ring rather than on the trail. Frank told me I looked comfortable in the saddle which is good. I no longer look scared as shit. In fact, the only time I got nervous was when Brawny seemed to trip or stumble and I thought I was going to go flying. I didn't though. I need to be able to keep the horse at a trot. Rick gave me a riding crop to use but I was afraid the horse would go too fast. But, I'm getting more comfortable each week.
Only downer tonight was we found out that we all wouldn't be able to ride together due to not enough horses of sufficient size to handle Frank, Ken, Stephen and myself. Oh yeah, and the horse started licking my new jacket. DOH!
