OW! My knees hurt!

Posting is hard. I rode a different horse today. Brawny was a smooth ride I was told. Okay, I can buy that. He was a pretty smooth ride. I could do a sitting trot. King, the horse I rode today, was the polar opposite of Brawny. He's narrow where Brawny is wide, which meant my legs came in more, more weirdness for the kknees, he's amazingly responsive, the lightest kick got him moving and he neck reigns like a dream, and when he trots, it's like riding in a garbage truck. If I didn't post, I was bounced out of the saddle. Most of the work I was doing was in not slamming down on his back. And damn did it make my knees hurt. We really couldn't trot for more than a minute or I was in too much pain. This, of course, slowed everyone else down. But, I did get the rythm so I may actually be able to post. We talked about cantoring but I wasn't ready, certainly not on this horse. But I'm open to it next week. My confidence in myself and the horse is growing. I wish Brawny was a more responsive horse. He seems like he'd be a good horse for jousting.

In unrelated news, or maybe it is related, I was asked to be a backup/substitute accomponiest(sp) at the Maine Renaissance Faire. How did this happen you ask? Well, we've got a new music director this year as the previous one chose not to return. For anyone familiar, it's Grant from Bedlam. Since he decided he would accompany the singing on stage for not one but two shows each day (a pub sing has been added to suplement the final sing) and he won't be there one week, he needs someone to accompany the singing the weekend he's not there. They asked who knew how to play an instrument. I mentioned I could play guitar. Then we found out the motive. I was asked if I'd be willing, I figured, why not? Well, I'm a pretty rudementry guitar player. I know some chords and I can keep time okay. And I think I was doing okay until I had to do a B or Bm chord. See, I never bothered learning any bar chords so my hand just doesn't do that. So I not only have to learn the songs, I have to learn new chords. This is NOT a bad thing. In fact, it gives me a reason to practice. I just need to find time every day. But, what started out as "accompany on the week Grant isn't there" turned into "let's have you play every weekend." This makes sense as it will get me used to playing along with the singers rather than singing. And I'll have Grant there to cover any mistakes. I play a steel string rather than a classical guitar so it's a bit louder so I'll work on playing softer too. Stressful? You bet. Exciting? That too.

And on top of that, I have to learn lines, a complex fight and I've been asked to help another project again, one which I backed out of last year.

Okay, can't help but like the fact people have this much faith in me. :)
