You know what's saddest about this. Well, a lot of things:
#1) The dogs live outside all day and come in at night -- the vast majority of dogs prefer to be indoors, in your space, when you aren't there. As long as they're trained and exercised, this is not a problem. People keep dogs outside all the time because they really don't want to take the time to take care of them!
#2) After relocating, can't provide for their needs, etc, etc -- So maybe before relocating you should have found a place where you could have the dogs!
#3) Different place in our lives -- and now the dogs suffer. Which means they have likely been suffering, on some level, for a while.
Sorry to rant in your LJ. I think that folks should think a little more before taking on a dog. Yes, it's going to change things. Accept that when you decide to share your life with an animal. I know I have limited time, but I also have decided that I want to share what time I have with a dog. That means some restructuring and acceptance that I have to make decisions with a dog in mind. But too often people think of dogs as simply large cats (not to belittle the needs of a cat).
I wish I could take one of these guys on, but not till November when I have the time to alter my lifestyle.
Well, there was a reason I posted this "please adopt our dogs" listing and not one of the countless others that have shown up. You've pretty much hit the nail on the head.
