Now, here's the story. This guy didn't want to go to war. So he barricaded himself inside his father's house and threatened to shoot anyone who tried to come in. Eventually he fired at police and was shot. Now he had been to Afghanistan. Clearly the idea of being shot wasn't a concern to him as he was in danger of being shot the entire time and was eventually shot. And the idea of shooting others didn't bother him because he threatened to shoot people and eventually shot at them.
So yes... war is THAT BAD that despite not having reservations at shooting or being shot at, he didn't want to go back to WAR!!!! Either that or he really didn't like the desert.
War fucks people up. Sometimes, those who live through it are the ones who suffer the most.
